Important Covid-19 Update

Dear Valued Patients

hands holding green glass globeWe wish to inform you that MSDS is still OPEN as an essential service during the COVID-19 outbreak. We have received confirmation from the ADA that Dentistry is classified as an essential service and its restrictions have now been down- graded to Level 2.

We are here to relieve pressure from GP clinics and the hospital system in dental health as the need may arise. We still need to triage who we see for the safety of all.

We can provide dental treatment where there is minimal generation of aerosols or where aerosols are generated there is to be provision of rubber dam. As professionals we are to use our clinical judgement.

Services Available

  • Examinations, Orthodontic treatment
  • TMD management
  • Management of restorative treatment provided under rubber dam
  • Preventative Procedures
  • Soft tissue pathology
  • Management of complex medically compromised patients with urgent dental concerns that may affect them systemically
  • Management of those at higher risk of rapid progression of dental disease due to socioeconomic or cultural factors
  • Management of patients referred by a medical practitioner for medically necessary dental care

I wanted to reassure my patients that we have been taking the COVD -19 situation very seriously and have taken the strictest precautions in the interests of health and safety not only for my clients and community but for my staff family and myself.

As most of our long-time clients are familiar we have always followed the strictest guidelines according to the ADA.

What are these and how can we reduce cross contamination? As a dental office we already uphold the strictest standards. With our present circumstances I have taken our office to the next level to protect our community.

We screen patients before they visit, we ask questions like are you feeling ok? Have you recently been overseas? If we have any concerns we will ask you to be tested before we can safely see you.

  • We have stripped our waiting room.
  • We wipe down frequented surfaces around the clock.
  • We insist you sanitise your hands on arrival and departure.
  • We ask that you pre rinse when you are seated to reduce the bacterial level in your mouth to ZERO. This way any aerosols that may be created are disinfected.

As you know we have been using this protocol as routine now in MSDS FOR OVER 4 YEARS

We have always used rubber dam to isolate the area we are working on to ensure greater soft tissue safety to achieve an optimal bond for your restoration but to also to reduce the incidence of aerosols.

As you know I have always followed this protocol. I have been using this now for over 25 years.

We always insist on High-Speed evacuation to reduce the incidence of aerosols.

We wear protective masks and clothing as well as face shields. We limit the areas we use or touch to avoid cross contamination.

We sanitize our hands between glove change- over.

For our immunocompromised patients in need of essential or urgent dental attention we can arrange your booking so you are the first cab off the rank as well as ensure distancing with private waiting areas.

I work from 2 rooms for efficient and effective room change -overs, this way we have prepared your room ahead of time and can seat you to ensure distancing and peace of mind.

Moving forward, I am also investigating ways to filter and extract air from the operatory rooms to the outside for the well-being of all for now and the future.

The availability of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.

My staff and I are here ready to assist. Contact via emergency mobile number for any urgent enquiries We can NOW also offer virtual consultations using Zoom.

I realize I do quite specialized work so to give my clients the peace of mind MSDS will BE OPEN over reduced hours between 9-3pm. We can see patients on Tuesdays and Thursdays for now from 9-3pm.

I will keep you updated.

Please stay safe.

Kind Regards

Dr Andrea Perdis Dentist BDSc Hons
